A torch on roof (sometimes referred to as modified bitumen) is similar to tar and gravel roofing, consisting of layers of flexible fiberglass and polyester with bitumen. Unlike tar and gravel however, you don’t experience the unpleasant odors. These large flexible sheets are torched down during installation.
A torch on roof has a vulcanization of large rubber sheets to a flexible fiberglass base as the final result. Further, torch on roofing is made of non-woven reinforced polyester mat coated and impregnated with SBS modified bitumen, ceramic mineral granules are embedded in the surface to provide UV protection and poly-film is bonded to the underside of the torch on.
